Weekly Meeting – Dave Sadler on ‘Building Strong Communities’ – Snake River Event Center (Shilo Inn, Idaho Falls)

Dave has been checking into what it takes to build strong and resilient communities.  Cities love it when ‘Big Box’ stores come into the community, thinking it is great for the community.  Cities generally even give various ‘incentives’ as enticements.  However, what are the near and long term impacts?  When a ‘Big Box’ store comes into a community they tend to force closure of many competing small businesses, creating a monopoly.  But then what happens if the ‘Big Box’ store closes?  This is just one of many scenarios people must consider when they are looking to build strong and resilient communities.  We all need to be thinking about this.  Please come if you can.
