Weekly Town Hall – Jon Walker, Bonneville County Commissioner

Jon Walker is the Bonneville County Commissioner chairman and the most senior commissioner.  Jon is coming to respond to last week’s town hall which featured Bonneville County Prosecuting Attorney Randy Neal.  Randy discussed how funding for Public Defenders recently changing from Bonneville County to the state of Idaho, and the challenges it creates for his office to effectively prosecute crimes, resulting in undesirable plea bargaining when cases should actually be brought to trial.  Randy said he tried to remedy this by requesting additional funding from Bonneville County to hire more attorneys, possibly using funding previously used by the County to fund Public Defenders.  However, the County says no funding is available.

Jon is coming to give the County’s perspective of the situation.

This will be an important discussion on an issue we should be concerned about.  Come ask the hard questions.
