Weekly Town Hall – Merrill Page, Bullying and Suicide

February 12, 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Merrill J. Page was born and raised in Logan, Utah, as the only boy among six children. He began playing the piano at the age of three, drawing inspiration from his older sister’s lessons and creating his own music. A survivor of bullying due to speech difficulties, dyslexia, and other challenges, Merrill often felt set apart from his peers.

After serving a two-year mission for his church, he spent a year working to save money for college. He began his studies at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, where he met the love of his life, who helped him reclaim his self-worth. Merrill continued his education at Utah State University, focusing on Music Therapy and discovering how music profoundly affects emotional and physical well-being.

Music became Merrill’s refuge during his darkest times, leading him to a career in mental health as a community support worker. He trained others to manage their emotions and worked with individuals with developmental disabilities, witnessing firsthand the motivational and calming power of music.

Recognizing the impact of bullying on individuals, families, and communities, Merrill has been developing a musical that addresses this issue. His goal is to use music to educate and inspire action against bullying without being condescending. He hopes this project will motivate good individuals to recognize the problem and take a stand, reflecting the words of philosopher John Stuart Mill: “Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing.”

As always, attendance to our Town Halls is free but donations are greatly appreciated.
