Idaho Water Wars

Background, presentations, and resources on Idaho’s water rights and curtailment issue.

What’s Happening?

In April 2024, Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR) projected a shortage of water available to the Twin Falls Canal company. As a result of the projected shortage, IDWR issued a curtailment order to over 6,000 ground water users in Eastern Idaho, threatening to shut off water and dry up to nearly 700,000 acres of farmland.
